As decision-makers meet in Doha to shape the postal sector’s future, the UPU's first-ever ministerial conference on 8 October 2012, moderated by David Foster, senior news anchor at Al Jazeera English, and Dr Andreas Taprantzis, Executive Director of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, will set the foundation for the UPU’s long-term outlook.
Nigeria's Omobola Johnson and Japan's Takashi Morita are among the prominent minister and vice-minister in charge of the postal sector in their countries who will take part.
They will be joined by other high-level speakers, including United States Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of the Netherlands, United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, and ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Touré.
In what promises to be one of the highlights of the 25th Universal Postal Congress, panellists will discuss the strategic issues facing the postal sector today and its evolving role in communication and as a motor of trade facilitation and socioeconomic development.
